Gel & Glitter; Rainbows & Tea

What if we took the little glass containers from Bath & Body Works wallflowers, (I keep saving them in a chest above the bookshelf,) then sprayed them with sea-glass-textured paint, filled the bottom with a handful of sparkly sand, dropped one or two tiny gemstones from my semi-precious stone collection into them, fairy dusted them with glitter, (because I politely disagree with all the glitter haters in the room,) then stuck candlesticks into those tiny, cute creations?

Or make gel candles out of them.

Gel like the sea.

Now I need to make gel candles as wedding favors. I totally have enough sand dollars in the penguin cookie jar to accent lots of candles, too. Like a piece of Orange County tucked into the wooden circles along the tables.

Even if I love living in this valley, my blood is salted with ocean water.

So I subscribed to 6-packs of my three favorite Twinnings teas on Amazon; that way, we’ll get 18 boxes of tea a month at a cheaper cost than the grocery store.

I plan to take all the extra Christmas wrapping paper in the back room, wrap each box of tea, maybe dip them in that ink-dipping kit I bought for me and Chase,—before my Depression moved all its suitcases into the middle of our living room—then put them in a big barrel, at a table, or whatever, with a sign that says, “Have a box of stress-relieving tea.”

Or something else related to using the Christmas wrapping paper, dipping things into swirly colors, and making—

WE COULD LET PEOPLE DIP THEIR WRAPPED TEA INTO SWIRLY COLORS TO DECORATE MY LIFETIME SUPPLY OF TEA. Like memories of loved ones tucked into the kitchen cabinets!

Can you imagine how heart-warming that’d look, if you opened up the kitchen cabinets, and that shelf you can never reach was stocked with tea and rainbows?

But I meant to give away the tea.

Sharing is caring.

I care about these people.

Conundrums.

🤓 What If?

Love 📚 Reading

What if we put a bookshelf in the entryway, a metal rolling cart—or just bookends holding a cluster of novels, poetry, and memoir together—and the sign said,

We’re letting go of books we’ve read in the past
to make room for new books in the future
so we would love if you took one
of these treasures home

to read about an adventure
we thought worth sharing
with loved ones like you

Love 💝 Writing

What if Chase made a bunch of journals
and we laid them out as gifts
for everyone to take
to learn to love
writing again

Love 🎨 Art

What if instead of signing a wedding guestbook
awkwardly
like a yearbook

We asked everyone to do 2 of the following 3—

1 Take a polaroid
making a weird face
so I don’t have to figure out if you liked the wedding or not

2 Write one sentence
explaining the best meal
you ever ate in your life

3 Sign your name with the alphabet
then do it again, except

Instead of using the alphabet
sign by drawing that doodle

That you’re always drawing in the margins
or if you don’t believe in margins

A stick figure doing a dance move
is fine
